University Fashion Group (UFG) is a student run organization at the University of Texas at Austin. It's mission is to promote principles from the arts, sciences, and humanities through the world of apparel design, retail merchandising, textile sciences, and textile conservation. Membership to the organization is open to ALL students interested in developing meaningful relationships and opportunities geared towards exploring the fashion industry.

COMMUNITY

Members of UFG become heavily involved in Austin’s fashion community by working backstage at local fashion shows including events associated with Austin Fashion Week, Tribeza Style Week, Simon Malls, and the countless boutiques and designers that Austin is home to. Members also become involved with New York’s fashion scene by working backstage twice a year at New York Fashion Week. In the past, UFG has worked with Project Runway, Lela Rose, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, Diane von Furstenberg, Kate Spade, Tess Giberson, Timo Weiland, and Trina Turk.

UFG also plans and executes the annual UT senior fashion show. The fashion show is an outstanding opportunity for senior design majors to showcase what UT’s fashion design program has to offer. UFG is proud to promote fashion on campus to a variety of students and the Austin community.

SOCIALS / NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

Our organization works on a point system in which members earn points based on attendance and involvement in general meetings, socials, and committees. Membership dues are $30/semester or $50/year, and only official members receive access to our weekly newsletter which gives access to various internship and job opportunities.

We host social events several times a semester to get to know new members and develop relationships. These socials are typically on campus, but may be off campus as well. For every UFG event attended, members are rewarded with points.

Guest speakers at meetings offer an inside on specific jobs in the industry. Attending meetings or working with our team enables members to meet professionals and exchange information.
